Making backup discs of your software

i have a number of software programs i would like to put onto disc so i have a backup copy of them. Before I burn them on nero where do i go to find the right program to put onto nero in the first place. I think before I burned the wrong location.
 
I assume that you know where the softwares are since you had made backup copies but not how to find it within Nero... Well, you can just open up Nero and burn them as data. If you don't know where exactly to look, you can just drag and drop the softwares into Nero instead.
 
what I mean is I got the software of p2p and I want to make a backup so if i reinstall windows I dont have to try and find them again, where do i go to get the correct area, is it before they were installed or after? Or somewhere else. Not that good on computers.
