i just got a dvd burner and i was wondering how i can take a normal digital movie and format is so i can burn it on to a dvd and it will play in a dvd player?
Some DVD players also play mpeg files, so maybe you dont need to burn it to DVD, you could check what your DVD player can handle, if it does play mpeg's you can just burn it like that on a DVD

There are one-click solutions but im not a big fan of them; the general idea is:
1. Encode the AVI/MPG file to M2V/MP2 or M2V/WAV (something like TMPGEnc)
2. Author the files to IFO/VOB (using something like DVDLab)
3. Burn the IFO/VOBs
