making music computer

Im new to this forum so any help would be appreciated. I want to build a computer for music recording and all the the other music stuff that goes along with that and since im new to building computers i really need some help with the components required.
these are the part ive found so far:

case- Corsair Obsidian 650D

power supply- Seasonic 750w X-750 DC to DC Ultimate Performance PSU Modular

optical drive- HP Pavilion HP 8x Int SATA Blu-ray Combo Retail Drive 3782208009

cpu- AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.20GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail

motherboard- ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 AM3 AMD 890GX HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

storage- WD Caviar Green 1 TB Internal hard drive - 300 MBps - 5400 rpm

cpu cooler- Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus Processor cooler

video card ?

sound card ?

RAM ?

First of all will the components i have there work together?

second what video card shall i get, something to go with the blu ray payer?

third what sound card will i need and what will be the best for me?

and finally i was a little bit confused on what or how much ram i could use i what to use as much as possible but how much will that be and what specs does the ram need?

as i said im new here so any help would be great.

Since you will be doing music recording try to get a good sound card 7.1 channel their are loads of sound cards, a nvidia gtx 560 will be sufficient for all your blu-ray needs it also has cuda so it could help with some tasked for rendering( if it is in your budjet).Will you be pluging your music equipment into the computer staright away or recording it with theird party equipment and then transferring it tou your computer?Their are multiple websites were youy can plcae your components to see if there compatible.To me they look ok:D 4gb is the standard, I would go with 8gb ram.

cool thanks for the reply, would something like a 'ASUS Xonar D2X 7.1-Channel PCI-E Sound Card' be a good sound card' and then a 'PNY GeForce GTX 560 Graphics adapter - 1 GB - GDDR5 SDRAM' for the video card. and when you say 8gb of ram is that two sticks of 4gb if so would a 'Kingston ValueRAM 8 GB : 2 x 4 GB Memory - DIMM 240-pin - 1333 MHz ( PC3-10600 )'

Nice power supply too. But maybe a bit much power - depending on your final specs/future planned upgrades.

Maybe you already own this. True to HP form, probably has an abundance of required software that you may not want/need.

This has onboard graphics. It works very well for HD/BR playback and dual monitors. And will game a little. It supports upcoming Bulldozer, but doesn't have the latest AM3+ socket.
Integrated ATI Radeon™ HD 4290 GPU
Multi-VGA output support: HDMI, DVI-D and RGB ports
Supports HDMI with max. resolution 1920 x 1200 (1080P)
Supports DVI with max. resolution 2560x1600 @60Hz
Supports RGB with max. resolution 2560x1440 @75Hz
If in the budget, get AM3+ mothernoard with 9xx chipset and a video card to match your needs.

Ok for storage, but slower for OS/programs. Samsung F3/WD Black/ and Seagate needs to be the 7200.12 model.
A SSD for your os and frequently used programs will make a big difference.

cpu cooler- Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus Processor cooler
Good cooler.

video card ?
Depends on what you want to do. Video editing and playback doesn't require too much. Gaming, depending on the games, does.

sound card ?
Not sure on these, I think that Xonar is well regarded.

RAM ?
GSkill 2x4GB @ 1600 or higher. Look for 1.5 or 1.6 volts and the lowest cas latency you can comfortably afford.


The 955 is a good choice. If you can wait a couple months the new AMD cpu's should be available.
Intel also has some fine offerings.

Do you have a spending limit?

well i doubt he'll be overclocking so the cpu cooler is unneeded, and wouldn't an i3 work better for this, and as said, your integrated gpu on that motherboard is more than fine unless you plan to game on this thing, and if you get the sound card, remeber that there is no use for an expensive sound card on cheap speakers.
