What you need the laptop for? Gaming, studies, watching movies or ......

logic is macs only but Reason works with pc's and macs...i've got reason and i love it except for the fact that my laptop is a piece of shit...wut makes you want a laptop over a desktop? i plan to get a new pc and i will def get a desktop just cause i've had over heating problems with my laptop....if i were u i would get a desktop just casue things are spaced out more and idk it might be easier to add aditional parts for connecting hardware...do u use many keybards and controllers that connect to your pc?...either way make sure you get a good sound card and i would also recomend building a pc from scratch so u get each part you want that would be good for music production.

I want a lap top rather than desk top because I just don't have the space and move around a lot. Are there other programs similar to Logic? I have never owned a computer before so I'm a complete beginner and would really appreciate some guidence. Building a computer is totally out of the question for me. Just need some info so I don't get ripped off. Is it worth buying second hand or better to get new? Any advice on makes or models? Please excuse my ignorance!!!!!!!

getting one second hand is kinda a bad idea unless you know the person u were getting it from and know why the yare giving it to you....as far as programs similar to logic, try Cubase or Sonar......those two are similar to logic...do u want logic for some reason? cause if you want to run both logic and reason then you should get a mac

Don't necessarily need Logic it's just that Ive used that one on my mates computer and he reckons that one of the best programs, although he doesn't know all that much about it. I'll look into Cubase or Sonar- cheers! Have you heard of Acid Pro? Do you know if this program is any good?

I suggest FL Studio. I use it all the time and produce my own tracks. FL Studio Producer Edition will run $150 and the Fruityloops edition is $100. It has alot of cool features and many purposes.
ReBirth RB-338 is also good (it is now discontinued, so you can get a free torrent off it from their website.)

i do serious music on my laptop and it is fine.

i run programs like reactor, fl, sibelius and a lot of other stuff. what you really need is a good sound card. i think that you should get a good new one if you are very serious. if not, then a good second hand one, you might need to buy a sound card then
