Hmm which is a cheaper way of getting a good computer and the parts you want, buying a computer with every thing in it or buying a bare bones system and adding shit to it? if i buy a computer with the stuff i want in it it will probably cost $100 more than if i buy all the parts seperately.

Things I need are:

Pentium 4/3.0ghz cpu motherboard
a relatively good video card
atleast 1 gb or ram, 2 would be great
hmm i have a 160 gb hard drive which is ok for me
i got a good monitor,keyboard,mouse,speakers,sound card
i would like a dvd/cd reader i currently have just a cd reader/writer
hmm and i dont know what else cuz im a noob at this shit ieeeeeeeeee.
k whatever peace

actually sometimes ull prolly save even more money by buying all part seperatley. Bare-bones is good if ur just starting out because BBs comes with CPU and mobo which can be tricky for people new to comps. I always suggest buying it part for part.

Wut is ur comp going to be used for in the first place?

basically my computer is just going to be used for internet aim some programs maybe a little pc gaming just counter strike. thats basically what i use my comptuer listening to music watching videos going on the internet going on aim thats about it

Well if you want to use it for that but your budget is limited, a Pentium D is the way to go. I'll be back with a list.

EDIT: Ack wait, whats your budget?

also i've heard of differnet thing what are all these different things stand for.

stuff like pentium 1 2 3 4
i saw pentium d which i think stands for dual processor
i saw pentium m and i dont know what that stands for Muahaha

Pentium M is for laptops. I almost have everything setup, hold on a sec.

eVGA 133-P4-NF51-AX

Pentium D 930

eVGA Geforce 7600

LG 16X DVD±R DVD Burner

Antec TRUEPOWER TPII-480

EDIT: Thats around 590 $ after shipping & taxes & rebate. If you need to fit in an OS and case, you could jump down to a Pentium D 805 (which can be OCed to 3.x ghz!) or a lower ATI card.

EDIT: Ahh! Forgot the RAM. Brb...

For the RAM: If you can up your budget, get this: pqi TURBO 2gb. Damn nice at 100~ dollars and a half decent cas for DDR2.

If not, this will do fine. But I would get the 2gb.

To make room for the case and OS I would get the Pentium D 805. So after all that the total is a bit more then 600. Do you have an OS install disk?

Look around on pricegrabber and you could probably knock off 50-100$ by buying it from different places. That leaves room for a decent case, and your set.

o one more thing i forgot to mention i would like it to have atleast two ports or whatever on the mother board so i can put 2 1gb of ram in it.

i can proably find 2 1gb ram thingies on ebay for $35 each is that better than the $100 deal or what and does it have to be a certain type port or wahtever

Ghz stands for gigahertz, and GB stands for gigabytes. Gigabytes is a storage term, usually found in RAM or hard drives, and gigahertz is a term used to measure the speed of a CPU.

gb deals with a hard drive. You can get them in 40, 80, 120, 160 etc. The gb number is the amount of data a hard drive can hold.

Also, gb can deal with ram. But for starters there is 512mb.

The RAM you would want is 240-pin DDR2. But search everything I mentioned on pricegrabber, sometimes you can get better deals there then on ebay. Happened to me a few times...

man you are smart on computers and stuff. im only in the 8th grade im a pretty smart student for high school me and my friend thats knows alot of stuff about computers are going to take a computer class where you make computer and learn about bios motherboards parts and shit like that and we can join his dads buisness when were juniors and earn as much as those regular people earn ieeeeeeeeee. i think atleast $10k - 30k a year i think im not sure but yea

u no this one [eVGA 133-P4-NF51-AX] that link and the [Pentium D 930] are they both motherboards and if they are what are the differences but i think the [Pentium D 930] mother board looks pretty swell and is at a pretty good cost

hmm im willing to pay $50 more for the 3.0 ghz motherboard cpu thing
and the dvd link u gave me what does it do does it write cd's and dvd's and what does it read cd's and dvd's

Its more like 75 more for the Pentium D 8930, plus do you have an OS and a case yet? After shipping and everything that will be 150$ at the very least.

It does everything. Write, read, burn, CD's and DVD's.
