Making myself a computer!

I need help, I plan on building a powerful gaming desktop, but the more research I do, the more confused I become.

I made a list of what I need:

* Power Supply - Not sure what I'll need to run what I want.
* CPU - again, not sure what I need to run what I want
* ATX Motherboard - no idea again
* RAM - http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...&CatId=3361 will buy 2 of these, but I'm not sure if this is a good product

* Sound card - halp D:

* OS - Windows 7 Home
* Surge Protector - halp

* Wi-Fi - halp
* USB2 card - halp
* optical drive (DVD burner or Blu-ray) - halp

How much have you got to spend on a desktop all up? Is this budget just for the tower? Do you need a monitor and peripherals as well?

Please state a maximum budget.

^what linkin said, we need to know whats the max you can invest in this gaming computer.its so that we can get you on the right track.prices rang from low-end gaming builds at around $500,mid at around $800, and high-end $1,200+.i personal think IMO that $1600 is a sweet spot on a new build.some people will say thats to much but i dont want to spend $800 on a build just to update/upgrade something if not all of my computer every 6months to a year.if you spend $1400-1800 you want have to touch your computer for upgrades for atleast 2-3 years.

edit:you said powerful, so i would say you would have to invest atleast $1000.give me the the max amount of $$ you can spend and ill recommend you a nice build.

zyox... I would so recommend you getting a SSD for your OS.... it really makes the difference. I know they are not as affordable... but to have a program open up in 1-2 seconds when it normally takes 10-20... you will not have any regrets! I just upgraded to one over the past couple of days and really happy with it so far!
