making still photos out of video files

Hi! does anybody here knows how to make still photos out of mpeg files? I have a video file here and i need to make still photos out of those videos for my report.. please help..

I use Cyberlink PowerDirector. There's a free trial available on their website. Just import the file, drag it to the timeline, scroll along the timeline to a point, click trim, and click the snapshot button. I'm using a previous version but it should be the same sort of procedure.
