Making the internet safe

ok, so i think everyone has heard of perverted-justice.com, the people who are out there getting internet pedophiles locked up (three cheers for PeeJ). Which helps make the internet safer, but what about hackers, and other malicious folks on the internet. I think that the internet is lacking a comprehensive group to help defend the clueless masses. Something to explain how to keep protected at home, how to keep your kids safe, where to get netnanny type software, the pros and cons of different security software, etc. etc. anyone interested please post here and PM me. I am going to look for more info on secruity around here.
 
I don't think so. Every day on the news you hear about new cybercrimes, credit card fraud, etc. The only reason now for not taking proper precautions is stubbornness... all the information is presented in front of you, it's just that most people think "It won't happen to me".
 
I think the problem is ignorance. just like before june 2004 (when perverted-justice was started) people weren't aware how big the problem was with pedos. If we set up an online community for security, and if we are dedicated, we may just be able to get the spam issues, and other such crap that makes the internet lame under control. I think that we may be able to build something useful for our little online world
 
You can't make people learn anything... the information is out there, well advertised, and easily accessible. It's just going to take time. Most people will have to have a bad experience before they start taking precautions.

I do not dispute the existance of the information in question. What i am saying is that there is no comprehensive independant free security website. I am going to start one. if you are not interested, why post here.

Well , now that thats sorted out. I dont know if I will make a separate site or not. I guess if people are interested, and if there is some other kind of angle on topic. I may end up making a sister site. if anyone is interested or wants more info PM me
 
What do you mean by seperate site? We can make the whole site with Php-Nuke and have a community...

PHP-Nuke is a community based website :D
