Malware Infection! "SMITFRAUD", "ADWARE MEMWATCHER" "SPYWARE KEYL PERFECTKEYLOGGER"

Hey guys,
I've been struggling with this for a while now. My browser & computer processes have been running sluggish. My main source of protection comes from McAfee but since these issues started I've ran a ton of programs with varying results. Adaware & Spybot S&D, Spyware Doctor & Spyware Blaster, all with varying results, tracing back to tracking cookies. Sometimes they show up, sometimes they don't. I've cleared all my cookies on Firefox & IE (i never use IE), upped my security settings, enabled my firewall, defragged & did a disc cleanup.
I ran trend micro housecall & these infections came up:

I just got a notification from google saying an attempt has been made to switch my default search away from Google to "unknown".
I am very concerned about my computer privacy. I'm not sure if these issues are a serious threat or not but either way would like them gone! I would appreciate any help as soon as possible!

There isn't any malware showing in the log, but there are a few things to clean up.


Open HijackThis and select Do a system scan only then place a check mark next to:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {DE9C389F-3316-41A7-809B-AA305ED9D922} - (no file)

Close all windows except for HijackThis and click Fix checked

Exit Hijackthis.

Please download DrWeb CureIt & save it to your desktop.

Scan with DrWeb-CureIt as follows:
  • Double-click on drweb-cureit.exe and then click Start.
  • An Express Scan of your PC notice will appear.
  • Under Start the Express Scan Now Click OK to start.
    • This is a short scan that will scan the files currently running in memory.
    • If or when something is found, click the Yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it.
  • Once the short scan has finished, Click Options > Change settings
  • Choose the Scan tab and UNcheck Heuristic analysis and click OK
  • Back at the main window, select the Complete scan button.

Just a few more quick steps.


Download ViewpointKiller

* Unzip the program and all of the contents of ViewpointKiller.zip to a location such as your desktop.
* Double click the ViewpointKiller icon to run ViewpointKiller.exe. Select the "File" menu, and select "Check to see if you have Viewpoint installed".
* If ViewpointKiller indicates that any of the Viewpoint variants are installed, select the proper "Kill" option in the File menu.

Follow the prompts and instructions very carefully, answering "Yes" or "No" depending on which option you are most comfortable with. The MsConfig instructions are very important, so be sure to read them carefully.

Note: When done with ViewpointKiller, simply right click and delete all files that were unzipped.

Your Java is out of date leaving your system vulnerable.
Older versions of Java have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.

Go to >> http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
On the Sun Java page scroll to the 4th download Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 4 to install the new version.
Next go to add/remove programs and remove all older versions.
Dont uninstall the Java (JRE) 6 Update 4 that was just installed.
Then go to C:\Program Files\Java and delete the old folders.
Be sure to keep jre1.6.0_04

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. ATF Cleaner.exe

Make sure that all browser windows are closed.
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All and UNCHECK Cookies.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All and UNCHECK Cookies.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
    NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

If you use Opera browser
  • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All and UNCHECK Cookies.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
    NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main ATF Cleaner menu to close the program.
