Hello Guys.

Here I pop back to computerforum.com with a new problem.

Recently I have found that Google has been running very slowly. At times it takes up to 15 seconds for it to bring back results. I kinow that this is not a server update because it has been happening for a week and a half now!!

I have already tried:

1.Clearing all spyware,
2.checking for viruses on pc
3.Clearing my temporary internet files and cache.

I use the following:
Zone Labs Free
AVG Free
Spybot Search and destroy.

15 seconds that's all? It sometimes seems to take forever at times searching on Google, Yahoo, ask, com. MSN, you name it. It is probably due to heavier then usual traffic at that time of day or night. If you are still worried about adware and spyware I can recommend a pair of freewares like Ad-Aware SE Personal and Spyware Terminator. The ST program also comes with a mild firewall and works quite well with Ad-Aware and AVG.

Ad-Aware is free at http://www.lavasoft.com

The Spyware Terminator is also free and found at http://www.spywareterminator.com/

Spyware, Adware, Malware, you name it! It can seriously take a major toll on your system.

Just for the heck of it once on my un-used computer, I went and downloaded a ton of spyware. I went and checked the performance tab in system properties, and my CPU was at 75% on idle!!

Toolbars, going to 'crack' sites, etc. There's numerous ways to try and get spyware on purpose. Psh. I bet you could even google 'spyware' and it would come up with some sites.

Before updating to IE 7 from IE 6 the default security settings in IE were still vulnerable to adwares, spywares, viruses, and other trojans and malwares. Besides any "unvited pests" you can see system performance losses over a period of time due to the increased amount of programs installed autoloading along with Windows and even "orphans" left in the system registry when uninstallers for various programs you choose to remove leave useless entries and folders behind. Those still attempt or do load drivers remaining in the installation folders.

The common tools for seeing those problems dealt with is to run a good registry cleaner occasionally as well as defragging the one or more drives installed over a lengthy period of time and after major software installations/removals and file deletions. Besides the large amount of malware removers there are some good cleanup tools like CCleaner and RegCleaner for the registry and leftover temp folders created by installers.

RegCleaner has been a good one used on different versions of Windows for several years now and is still free at http://www.majorgeeks.com/RegCleaner_d460.html One thing to note about this site is the ton of freewares and sharewares alike in a large variety of caagories including antivirus and antispyware as well as benchmark tools. You can find most popular programs by simply browsing there.

The other freeware mentioned, CCleaner also includes a registry cleaner as well as having the well deserved nick name of "crap cleaner" since it will locate and remove a ton of garbage off of your one or more hard drives. You can find that at http://www.ccleaner.com/
