Malwarebytes-Safe to install on Windows 7?

Bought a new computer last week and it's a emachines and it's running Windows 7 Home Premium. Is it safe to install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware,version 1.60 from C.Net downloads? Thanks!

get the most current Malewarebytes from the MB site. they offer a free version download, so no reason to go to cnet for it.

Of course you can install Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware on Windows 7.It will work with no problems.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is not bad,but there are a LOT LOT LOT better virus protection programs than Malwarebytes.;)

I personally think the best antivirus is a Linux OS, but to each his own. Malewarebytes is not a Antivirus, that is unless you use the paid version. There are better for sure. THen again you really don't need one if you are any kind of smart when your on the web.

What i'm using for AV

I'm using the AVG free version plus Spybot Search & Destroy. Would like to add Malwarebytes. 3 years ago I got a virus and I was able to clean the HD and reinstall Windows XP. Used the AVG,Spybot and Malwarebytes. This worked for 3 years until my computer just broke. It was 6 years old. So I would like to use the same programs as before cause I think they just worked. Thanks for all your input.

Have you tried downloading malwarebytes from their website? When you go to download it from their website it redirects you to cnet or fileforum websites, you can't get it directly from malwarebytes themselves.

Ok, If you say there are a lot better antivirus programs then malwarebytes, why do we use malwarebytes to remove infections that an antivirus program don't??? You are making a lot of invalid statements lately that you can't backup with facts. I don't know which one is worse... your seagate fanboism or now this thing with malwarebytes.

Don't even bother installing Spybot, its old and outdated. Malwarebytes and superantispyware are much better programs to use.

LoL I am not saying malwarebytes is bad,but that is not the only software to remove infections.I payed mine almost 5000 dollars and it does the job great.
I tested it with malwarebytes on one laptop once to make sure it was worth paying almost 5000 dollars. What I did is that I was surfing on the WEB by going to the worst WEB sites I could find.Once I saw that the computer works like crap,I decided to scan it with both programs.First I scanned it with mine which I payed a lot and it found around 9800 bad items which it deleted automatically and after that I also performed the scan with malwarebytes and it found 0 infections in all fields. So that tells me that the program I use for protection is very good and that it was worth paying all that money =)
Malwarebytes is not bad at all,but when surfing the internet, malwarebytes does not perform access protection for all infections so good for the difference of mine which I payed a lot for.The thing is I do not want to scan my system once a week so I can clear all infections.I don't have time for that since my system is constantly on and doing something.I want that when I am surfing the internet that no infection even goes on my HDD.
I do however scan my system once every 6 months with my antivirus program. That may seem very very little, but every time it finds 0 bad items and my system works just perfectly so that shows that it really was worth paying almost 5000 dollars for it.
I always say...rather prevent infections to come into your system in the first place rather then clean them AFTER they already are in your system :P

The problem is that there are viruses and other type of infections which after they are deleted by let's say malwarebytes...then immediately after that they are created again and malwarebytes just continues the scan process on other locations. And no matter how many times you perform the scan,it will always find it since it is being created automatically after the deletion.Of course this type of infections are so damn rare, but it happened to my friend once...
So that is why I always say...rather prevent infections to come into your system in the first place rather then clean them AFTER they already are in your system :P

As for the HDDs,I did not mean anything bad.I just wanted to point out that more than 100 new WD HDDs died on me in the last few years within a month or 2.And if someone tells me that is a bad luck that I say it is bad HDD and not luck lol.Because I never had problems with Seagate :)
I don't really have money to buy WD HDD and that it dies every time for no reason. And the most weird thing is that they do not have a reason to die.I just used them to watch movies and all of a sudden they died lol. That never happened to me with Seagate,Maxtor and even Hitachi.

I never EVER have problems with HDDs,but with WD HDDs and TOSHIBA HDDs I had nothing but problems lol.I don't know...maybe here where I live they suck and there where you are they rule...I don't know lol.But what I do know is that I spent a LOT of money on those WD and TOSHIBA HDDs and ALL of them died for no reason. Not to mention that I couldn't even return them back for a replacement lol. That just sucks lol.
I hope you can understand why I hate WD and TOSHIBA HDDs lol.
I am not saying Seagate is the best.Sooner or later it will even happen to ME that Seagate HDD will die too,but at least they work for a long period of time. And when I say long,I mean 5 years or more.
And WD or TOSHIBA HDDs just die within a month or two for no reason lol.

Anyway I hope you can now understand why I hate them lol.I don't really wanna spend a LOT of money on something what stops working so soon for no reason lol.

Cheers John!
And everyone else too :P

Stars,

Where are you buying your drives from? What software did you buy that costs $5000? Maybe you need to move out of croatia and come to the States or the UK. I can't help but think that you over exaggerate the issues that you are having with Western Digital drives. After all, you are the one that puts your computer parts in a dishwasher to clean them....

I just need you to stop telling users that WD drives are crap, that is total invalid statement/opinion.

My dear John I would move out of Croatia loooooong time ago lol.Life here sucks because politics screwed up everything and everything is so damn expensive. If for example HDD there where you live costs 40 dollars, here it costs 150 dollars. And that applies for EVERYTHING: food, water, computers, sellphones, clothes, medications, treatments, apartments blablabla...
Not to mention more and more people are loosing their jobs here. That sucks so much lol...

Anyway I never meant that WD HDDs really suck.It was even weird to me that here in Croatia everyone who use WD HDDs that after a VERY SHORT period of time they die (for no reason) and there where you people are they work great. That is so weird lol.Maybe Seagate sucks there where you are and they rule in here lol.Who knows :D
I am just saying that it's so damn weird they die for no reason. Not just to me,but to everyone I know lol.I just has a client few days ago who brought me 2 WD HDDs of 1 TB.They were 2 weeks old and already started clicking for no reason.Same thing happens to my friends, while with Seagate and Maxtor this never happens to me and anyone I know.
To tell you the truth John......I really don't know what the hell people here in Croatia do with these hard disk drives, but whatever they are doing, they should stop lol. :D Not to mention HOW MUCH EXPENSIVE hard disk drives here are.One HDD of just 80 GB costs around 100 dollars or more.Plus you must also ALWAYS pay for the shipment which is most of the time 30 dollars or more.So that is total 130 dollars (IF YOU ARE LUCKY LOL).

That is why I wanted to buy things from Ebay from now most of the times because if I pay a lot I want that to work too lol.But here is the problem again...it CANNOT ship to Croatia hahaha =D
What an irony ha? xD
My mom once ordered a SIMPLE book.Just a BOOK...damn BOOK lol.And of course it NEVER arrived lmao! She of course DID pay for it,but never got it.
That is how things work here in Croatia my dear John =D Never come here on vacation lol =D
