Managing other accounts and downloads?

I am setting up my desktop for the family, kids 9 and under and wife. I have created their accounts but would like tips on to keep everyone running happy. I am sure it does but I will ask anyways. I am on as a admin., all of the security settings function the same on all accounts correct?
How do I set up the computer to down load to a specific place, like a flashdrive ? I have a 20 gig flashdrive that I want to make sure all downloads go here instead of the computer for the other accounts.

i just sign in to the account and say firefox tools download and create a directory for her or kids so we can find them. on mine its all and every thing set up for all profiles called download then she or i know where everything is at. if thats what ya mean. organize is what i do. i want to know where also.
works well.

i do have separate accounts also. create a directory called music which i buy, or newsgroups download. try to have some order in the house and where its at.

I fully agree with having a central download place. Otherwise people forget where they stuck a file. It also makes it easier to run AV scans on downloads. Most people would set it up as the same folder (eg My Downloads) in My Documents of each User account. I suppose it depends on what privacy is allowed. Nobody has privacy from you, the boss, but they may like privacy from each other.

You can't configure that with a single stroke, it has to be done per application. Mostly the browser. If you use other online apps they will ask for a download location.

Agree, you should have 1 place where ALL downloads go, then subfolders...the more organized, the better!!
