Managing virtual networks

Hi,
im trying to get my head around VMware's "managing virtual network" software. all i am really doing is trial and error. has anyone else had any issues with this,

Basically i get DHCP from MS server 2003, (another machine) and want my virtual machines to have a specific set e.g. 192.168.0.130 - 140.

it seems as though this is possible on the manage virtual network software but im geting no love from it. :(

can anyone explain the concept of this software to me (specifically the tabs)?
 
its getting a bit rediculious, fiddling with these settings has resulted in two blue screen of deaths. damn headeach.
