Mapping printer network

hi..

I've got one pc (xp pack 2) which have to connect everyday n all the day with a printer server. I can map the server, n install the printer to the xp pc. Normally, everyday when i on the xp pc, there will be no probem with d'printer, can direct print. but the fact is different, every time i on it ot after restart, i've to click the driver in the server to key in password for the server that i map....btw when d 1st time i map the drive, i check "reconnect at logon" already...may i know why i still have to key in password, but other pc (also xp) can direct connect to server n printer?

You can hook the printer directly to a PC and share on your work group and eliminate the print server. The only issue with this set up is that the computer that the printer is hooked up to must be on in order to print.

In my opinion this is a better set up for most printers because it allows the printer to communicate to the PC (keep track of errors, ink levels, etc.)
