i'm trying to reset an older dell. on any other computer i would just open it up and press the master reset button on the board but i can't find the master reset button on this computer, I'm open for suggestions.
When you say master reset, you DO mean the CMOS/BIOS, right? If you mean the operating system and all, there's a bit more invloved. The first button required would probably be the CD-ROM
when i go into bios there is a setup password. I don't remember it so i can't change the boot sequence. the goal is to do a cold boot and use the restore disk to return it to the way it was when i got it.
when i take the battery out do i turn the computer back on then off again befor replacing the battery. or do i just take it out replace it and then turn the computer on again.
Take out the battery and hold down your power button for about 15 seconds, that will reset your bios password and you will be able to change your boot sequence from there!
PS: The battery will look like a watch battery on the mother board!
