Master Slave Setup

I have a 400GB drive on a SATA connection set as master (that is my only sata drive)... I have a DVD Burner set as IDE Master and I have an external 250GB IDE hard drive that I am going to put in my system. Should I put the 250GB drive in as a slave ide and let the dvd burner be master... The 400GB drive will have my OS on it so does it matter which of the dvd burner and 250GB drive is master or slave for IDE?

It doesn't matter, it should work either way. Most people set the hard drive as master when they are putting it on the same channel as an optical drive though.
 
It doesn't matter. Slave and Master are the same. Just make sure one is Master and the other is Slave.
