if a harddrive is set as primary slave in the bios would that effect if the drive came up in xp pro installation, b/c i just tried to run xp install on a pc and it got to part to select drive and there was no drive there any help would be greatly appreciaited
 
I had a machine once, and for the life of me, I couldn't get the darn thing to work unless the HD was on slave!

Most computer today will work with the drives on any channel. With RAID and computers with so many controllers on them now, it's basically where ever you want to stick the drive. However, the Primary Master drive is suppose to be the boot device...

Yea I had a old soyo board that did that, had to run the drive as slave on primary, never got it to boot or install as master, but ran fine, Ha I think that was the last Soyo I bought!!
