Material for a PC case

I've been searching for ideas for my first custom PC case, and wanted to know what is the best material. I have seen many metals, plexiglass, ect. when i say best i mean that in heat terms.
1. Does a certain type of metal (or any material) allow for lower temps?
2. Are there any paints i should avoid when painting the case?
3. Were did u get your info?

Seems to be that most "good" cases are crafted out of aluminum. That might be a good way to start?

The material doesn't really affect case cooling, very little heat escapes through secondary cooling in cases.
