hey everyone...
im having some trouble with heat issues...i really want to get a phenom 9950 be, not for any particular reason other than to upgrade n i already got an am2+ motherboard, but with my current settings would it push the limits of heat? i dont care too much for water cooling because it is so expensive and i dont think i can fit it in my case anywhere, so i would prefer some advice on a good heatsink that would fit in my case, and cool the cpu efficiently, nothing is oc'd but im open to do that too (first, i just want to have my comp. run stable with no issues) i have so far 2 exhaust fans in the back a 120mm and an 80mm that i installed myself, and a 80mm in the front blowing in...i have a spare and am not too sure where to put it, im just trying to make my case cool enough to have the phenom 9950 be, i dont care if i have to put more fans in but i really dont want to get another case...i like the mobility

i thought about cutting more holes in the side where the gpu is so that it will suck air from directly out of the case, or maybe putting the extra fan directly across from the gpu at a low spin...

i have an apevia x-qpack 2 case
ASUS M3A78-EM motherboard cuz it can handle a 140w cpu
OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W power supply
HIS Hightech H487F512P Radeon HD 4870, i upped the fan speed 65% so its around 44C (noise is not an issue)
OCZ Platinum Revision 2 DDR2 800 (4 x 1GB)
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS 500GB
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ (which im looking to upgrade)
Sony NEC Optiarc 20X DVD±R Burner Black SATA Model AD-7200S-0B

i can tell by looking at the case and the spec that you would have some heat problems lol, the card you have kicks out some heat i know my 4850 does!!

how many case fans you got on there? intake/exhaust?

well i would personaly either put some more 120mm fans in there (over gpu and cpu)
or consider maybe same size case but with better air flow design!!!

your loading up your case with good quality componants that produce alot of heat-!

im sure that them little cases are designed for desktop pc and not for gaming rigs thats why people get the antec900's etc for the airflow

i have 3x120mm fans 1x220mm fan and liquid cooling to keep mine cool and you have a better graphics card and your getting a phenom that runs hotter than the q6600!

what about putting small fans (40mm-50mm) along the sides on the top??
the pic. with the pirate skull is the top of my case...so like on the left and right of the case?
should they be intake or exhaust?
if heat rises then maybe exhaust?
where should i put a fan to cool the gpu?
or possibly get a gpu cooler? any suggestions?

i wouldnt mind but i dont know much about it...
but im really just concerned about the space in my case if i got it water cooled
unless anyone knows off hand something that would work with the 4870?
im leaning more towards air

you would need a fan to shift the heat near the top because as you say heat rises and as many blowing cold air over your componants!!!

the thing with the smaller fans they dont shift asmuch air as the bigger fans and they spin much faster making alot of noise!

put one 120mm ontop as exhaust and 2 on the side perspex (graphics card side) as intakes!

your case is that cramped i cant even see you cpu cooler!!!

i wouldnt have put all that spec into that small of a case, intel would have been a better cpu to use in such a small case as they run alot cooler!

put all fans to exhaust, you could also cut a hole in the plexiglass, and use a 120mm fan to exhaust the warm air, if you have 25 bucks to blow on a fan, get a sanyo deki(i think that's what its called)

put all fans to exhaust??

no point in doing that unless he can create a good intake!

i dont think exhausting is his answer-create a good intake then a good exhaust and you will get a good airflow!!

i think im gonna try putting 2 80mm intake next to the gpu
then try to have another 80mm on the top as exhaust
noise is not an issue for me so i might just try to squeeze as many
fans as i can so far, using pc probe 2 my
cpu = 40C
mb = 34C
gpu = 42C
are these temps normal?

hahaha yeah dude...i was trying to see what parts would react to black lighting right after i posted the pics i saw the urine off...hahahaha i think its too funny for me to actually be embarrassed
