Max amount of memory question?!?!

Hi guys i have a SONY VAIO VGN-FE48E and i have 1.5 GB of RAM while the max amount of memory is 2GB . I was thinking of getting 3 or 4GB can i do something to make this posible.
And why its only 2GB max is it from the motherboard or anything else??/

If it says 2GB is the max, then more than likely 2GB is the max the laptop can take. As far as I know there is no way to increase the max a laptop mobo can support.
 
You can put 8GB in the laptop .. it wont work .. or it will see only 2gb.
If the laptop says it can only take 2gb what makes you think you can put 4gb in? The engineers did not pick a arbitrary number when they made the board. The chipset is limited in how much memory it can handle.

2gb is normal for a older laptop. If this is a newer laptop .. its one of those ultra low end laptops.

4GB for lowerend laptops, and 8gb for most newer decent laptops.
