whats the max tempreture a Socket A Semporn 2800+ @2Ghz can take?

mine idles fine at 32c but it can go up to 55-60c when heavy load.

ive added a 92x92 fan at full speed in my case blowing on the gfx card and my mobo temps have gone down but my cpu never seems to be any cooler:(

Side of case is off aswell

i want to make my system cooler because when i game my cpu temp goes high and i think it makes my system go realy slow and it lags when the temps go up.

The Socket A cpus usually saw a 85-90C max temp. So seeing one idle in the 40c with a stock hsf and loads into the high 50s is nothing new there. One build here when the fan on a 3rd party cooler the temps were seeing 74C even made it to the 85C with the XP3200 then. Lately when reassembling the old case to see what would happen. A fresh battery for the board saw a normal running cpu. It survived!

The 85C temp was seen along with a weak battery right when the Zalman 7000b was installed and just starting the breakin on the AS-5. That's an excellent cpu cooler now in use again for Socket A models. But better air flow is what proved to be the actual means of seeing cpu temps lowered for the replacement build when board temps were lowered despite the Zalman 9500 there! Crappy air flow means crappy temps! for everything along with the cpu.

When I used my 2600+, mine idled around 40-45C. Never gave any problems. (Overclocked 390MHz...).

The stock hsf will work find for a non ocing rig until the thermal pad shows signs of wear. Those can be replaced while they do lack quite a bit.

The Zalman 7000b mentioned before can be looked over at http://www.xoxide.com/zalman-7000b-cu-led-cpu-cooler.html

For a good cooler and especially any ocing with the older cpu there it does a good job. But taking a good look at larger case fans or adding one or more in can be a plus.

Your case probably saw much better air flow there then many of the older styles did. Plus yours was a 2200+ or 2400+ using less power then the faster Sempron would see. The model you had in the old build was likely a 65w model compared to the 89w as well.

Thanks guys for all your replies,

However i dont understand why if it can handle those high temps why my system becomes unstable and crashes frequently.

It gets hot,Lags and crashes

if it keeps getting hot and crashing, just get a new fan or case fan. Ive got a wimpy semp le-1200 that never gets over 32c on full load lol.

While the cpu has a higher max temp there over the newer 939, AM2, and ... plus the newer Intel models since the P4s you have to take into consideration other hardwares like video card, memory, hard drive temps, etc. where having good air flow in general does a great deal in keeping temps down. The lower board the lower the cpu and memory to start with.
