Maximus II Motherboard help

Hello i'm new to site, I just got a system build and when i shut down my computer my motherboard stays on (lights on the mother board are on when the computer is off) as well as my speakers staying on. I have a 600 watt Zaleman PS with a power switch and have to turn off the power switch after every shutdown to make the mother board and speakers turn off. My question is should the mother board shut off when I turn off the computer? Do i have to turn my power switch off after every use?! Is it OK to leave the power supply on when I'm not using my computer? Thanks! ^^

Your speakers are most likely powered by a separate 9v cord, plugged into the wall/surge protector. They turn off when you turn them off.

Your motherboard may have a light or two on for a bit after shutdown, rarely do they stay on indefinitely. I have 3 lights on my K9A2 Platinum, and they shutoff a little after.

Thanks I'll try it out, maybe my speakers will turn off a little after too. They have only a usb plug in, no wall jack.

How long do they stay on for after you shut the computer down? Does just sound like maybe some residual power that needs to leak out the capacitors on your board but that is a little weird.

for my maximus, as long as the power supply isn't switched off in back, it has lights on, and the lcd poster says "welcome"

This is totally normal, my P5N-E SLI (motherboard :P) always has the little green LED on to show it is still getting juice and is switched on. Likewise my USB splitter which has a little green LED has that stay on, same scenario as your speakers.

You don't have to turn the power supply off after every use, it will be more than OK left on

It is also fine to leave it on when you aren't using it, the only current it draws at that point is to keep the LEDs on.

i also have a second pc and the usb ports have power to them when the pc is switched off....

that could explain why your usb sound system still has power to them

in my experience as long as the PSU is on, the motherboard leds will be on, to let you know the mobo is getting power. That's perfectly normal. no need to turn off the PSU, I never do.
