MB and Radeon 6970

I'm in the process of my first build and looking for some advice.

I've already purchased a Radeon 6970 but not the MB. I've been looking at a
Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD5 NewEgg N82E16813128513

Looking at the feedback on this MB, one post said that a larger video card would not fit in the top slot. As I mentioned, this is my first build and new to this. Will I still be able to use the 6970 in one of the other slots?

He is talking about having a longer card in the Express x1 slot. So for him his soundcard was the problem because it was blocked by the chipset cooler. You will have no trouble using the 6970 in the first x16 slot.
