MB Laptop

Hey,

Okay, so I know what happened is my fault, but I would like to get this resolved. I have a Dell 5160 laptop. I dont want to get rid of it because it is blazing fast with performance. However, being that it is a laptop, I use it sometimes when I am lying in bed. The problem is that the cord that recharges the laptop via the back port ultimately connecting to the MB has "made it self loose", so that when I simply try to plug it in for a recharge, it wont unless I "strategically" angle the cord to hit the precise spot. Even then, it will need to be adjusted in order for me to have it fully recharged. I am out of warranty (by less than a year, ugh) and have contacted dell and they want $250 to replace the entire MB (which they say is the only option) because the recharge piece is soldiered onto the MB. I went to ebay and the MB for 5160 go for the same price.

Is there an easier way for me to get this serviced? I have electrical experience (somewhat) and just dont want to pay $250. Is there a place that sells the recharge part of the MB, which is all that I need, instead of a new MB? Any ideas/suggestions would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Im not sure what the port looks like, but you can try to secure it in place (which works). You could do this with a bracket. Or you could try pulling the laptop apart (carefully) trying to repair it. You could also try a local computer store with a repair station, maybe they could help you repair the connection rather than replacing the laptop.
