Hi,
A mate of mine keeps boasting that his comp ill destroy mine (when i build it :D )

His specs are:

P4 550 3.4Ghz
1GB Ram (Unknown)
p5rd1-v deluxe m/b
400 gb raid 0
ATI x800xl

Thats all i know.

He paid £650 for it and has spent about £1,200 now in total. He is upgrading it more, but how will mine in the below sig compare?
Mine is only going to cost £640 (He bought his off ebay with a 3.2, but he got the guy to upgrade for extra)

If your building it to beat his... Your doing it for the wrong reason in my opinion... You ahouls build it the way YOU like it, and the way YOU want it. It is not a competition. Things you do with your computer, he may not do on his... Slow down and think about what you want...

Yeah, I agree with Trizoy totally. If you're building a comp just to have it beat your friends, then you shouldn't be building it at all, I mean you might end up finding out that you didnt really need a $500 video card, but you wasted the money on it anyway.

hey, i have a 500$ video card and im happy >:(

ill asume your gaming?
and is 640 euro or what ever that crazing little thing is compared to..is it about 900usd?
then now, my comp wastes your and you should give up :)
but build it how you want it ya, no point in doing it just to show off your friends...

Your cpu is slightly better, and your ram is better. But his video card and hard drive are better.

stay away from intel and go for amd
Fanboyism?

your ram, is that value select? if it is you mine as well let him win
go for the nice ram
Valuselect works fine if you know what to buy.

who cares about the beating some elses comp. u should only worry if u are gaming online or something
That's if they are using them for gaming, some people just go overboard because they can.

And what, pray tell, is your personal experience?
 Care to elaborate on that?
i had an Intel on my old mobo, it was slower than when i upgraded to a new mobo with same ram. plus the reason for the switch in the first place was my CPU failing

and what i meant by that was he called me a fan boy for saying something that was hardly a fan boy comment at all, but he could also be considered a "fan boy" because hes defending Intel for a pitiful reason

lol I never said I was defending intel, but yes, you did have a fanboy comment. Intel will beat out an AMD at processor intensive tasks while AMD will beat out intel at games. I have many intel systems and many AMD systems and use them for what they are made for, guess that defeats the purpose of me being a fanboy.

Defending something != liking something.

Not a very convincing experience, definitely not enough to convince me that an entire brand is better than another.
but he could also be considered a "fan boy" because hes defending Intel for a pitiful reason
No... no he couldn't. And where is this "pitiful reason" coming from?

so you're saying you upgraded the mobo and the CPU? (you only said same RAM so I assume you moved to AMD, hence your comment about AMD being the best)

To me it sounds like you expected the non-upgraded machine to be faster. That's just a little foolish don't you think?

yes i know that but you called me a fan boy for about the same level of reason i called you one...ya see what I'm saying?

yeah and you forgot

Defending something != liking something=people accusing you of a fan boy for unfounded reasons
