Can anyone fill me in on these things?
Whats the advantages
Are they less powerful than a regular desktop?

Couldnt you just do the same things on a regular computer for cheaper?

thanks guys

whats a good one

They are just standard computers with special software and maybe a few hardware additions like a video capture card and maybe a video card with TV out. Otherwise, they are just regular computers.

By "special software" I mean for the TV-Tuner(if it has one). Also a lot is usually aimed for viewing on the TV and to use a remote. Go to a store and find a PC with Media Center Edition on it. Personally I hate it, but others love it...

So would it be a better bet to just get a regular computer and get a tv tuner?

If this a fair statement: A media center computer is everything a regular computer is with better options for tv, dvd, music ect...?

also is alienware a good company? I know they can be very good but expensive. If I were to buy their media center computer would it be a good buy for the price?

Depends on the price, but that's what I'd normally do. You never know what hardware you're getting

Fair enough :P

They are very overpriced for the most part. I wouldn't even consider them, personally.
