media centre PC

I'm designing a PC for our lounge room to replace the dvd player and AV receiver etc...
but i've only ever looked at video cards for Gaming PCs, not computers that just watch TV and dvds etc.

what would be an adequate video card, preferably PCI express, that will competently deal with watching high quality DVDs and TV, and be able to handle recording one tv channel while watching another?

Would something like the 6800 or 7600 series be decent?
