I've been waiting to build a media pc for a while now, wanted to build something thats pretty affordable, to make the story short, i ended up building a website for a guy for some parts, (he builds computers for a living.)

I think thats it other than a few case fans and other accessories. I will not be buying this stuff from newegg most likely other than the hard drive.

Usually for a media machine, I'd think a large capacity Hard Drive is nicer (like the 1TB). Also, a surround sound with a nice sound card would benefit you. A Blu-Ray drive is only about 119 bucks now, so I'd pick one of those up. Also look into getting a 1080p HD monitor, it'll really make the Blu-Ray's look good. Other than that, the machine sounds and looks like it's gonna be nice :)

Yeah I will be running both hard drives. I might look into buying a nice sound card, never found it too important. Its going to be running on a 67 inch 1080p tv :p.

HDD - Seagate/ WD are my preference
CPU - Not sure if you should get C2Q, may be get Q9550 instead...
Cooler - XIGMATEK Dark Knight
Video card - Get ATI as they support sound through HDMI

So get a different 1tb, is the samsung one just slow or what? Can't really afford a quad core, I think I'll just use the e8400.

Didn't know ati supports sound through their hdmi that's definitely a plus.

You can afford a quad core if you go with AMD which would be a better choice since the socket 775 CPU's are way over priced compared to the Phenom II and the i5's.

Oh to bad you could have gotten a way better computer.

I take it you like amd lol, I have an amd motherboard sitting in my closet also, but I thought I was going to sell it - its a high end am2+ with crossfire/sli. m3a32-mvp deluxe. Not sure which I should use.

Actually I'm a fan of both I love AMD for there price's and upgrade ability but I like Intel because they have better performance. What I meant is your paying $170 for a dual core and you could have gotten a quad core for the same price.

Yeah, I'll see, I might just do that but I think that I will be buying the e8400 and overclocking a bit.
