Media Player 10 Problem

After having installed Windows XP Pro and WMP-10
I have problems with watching video clips or videos.

I find it strange that some play well, others not.
When playing the problem video clips ( for instance
www.cnn.com videos ) I can barely see the subjects,
then the screen is full with large bands of different
colors,such as blue,yellow,red )

Is it possible that WMP-10 can only play certain file
types and not others ?

Any suggestion of what is wrong.

can't help much other than to say that I have XP home, sp 2, WMP 10 and all the vids onCnn.com were crystal clear anytime I watched them.

It has more to do with the codecs and permissions that you have set in MP10 than the program itself. I find that Quicktime tends to be a little more universally friendly and doesn't take as much processor resources as MP10 does.

I have found out that if you download and install the DIVX codec software that it plays just fine. Go to www.divx.com and download the DIVX play software and then try replaying the file and see if it works then. It should.
