Mem upgrade?

Hi all,

Now please be honest with your replies.

Do you personaly think i should upgrade my ram to 1Gb + 256Mb?

See the reason i ask this is well i get the occasional lag while playing Warrock (Which everyone reports lags anyway)buy they say having 1gb helps alot.

I dont realy have enough to buy a new computer yet so sould i just stay with what i have and stick up with the lag and not spend any more upgrading my current computer and save the money for my new one?

But if i dont upgrade i will still lag for another year or so until i can afford a new computer.

Because i dont wonna stay with this lag:D

Deffinetly. On the old family PC we used to have which had 512MB of RAM, when I played FarCry i got around 20fps. But when I upgraded to 1GB, i saw a jump to around 40fps, as well as better overall performance.

why not got to 2gb

ii have 2gb and i get ton of fps in Americas Army

And your having a 7900GT has nothing to do with that?

He has a Radeon 9600, which is alright enough, but needs replacing, too. However, 2GB in that system would be a waste, for the most part.

Moving up to 1.25 GB (assuming 2x256MB right now?) would definately help. I need to upgrade my current comp with a gig. But, I have to pull my current 512 I think (memtest fails). :(

He has a 2800 Sempron. As said, upgrading with 2GB of ram would be wasteful.

As for the screenie, what's your fps in the middle of a full screen firefight?

For your system, yes, going from 1GB to 2GB would make a difference. Your system would be weak with 1GB, whereas it returns to balance with 2GB.

It's all in context of other components.

Sempron-512MB-Radeon 9600

vs

Athlon X2-2GB-7900GT

Of course yours needs the 2GB. His needs a rebuild, to be honest. But he's trying to extend its life just as I will extend the life of mine.

its usually around 40 or so just depends on the mood of my computer someitmes 60 sometimes 30

Thanks guys,

I know its probably a waste anyway upgrading on my current setup but its either stick with 512 and be a laggy or go up to 1Gb so it doesnt lag while playing warrock.

Thats the only game i realy play now is warrock anyway.

So can i just remove the one stick of 256Mb and replace it with the 1Gb so i have 1Gb + 256Mb = 1280

Would this work ok aslong as i get the same Pc3200?

I think its 184 pin.

After the mem upgrade im spending no more cash on this system :D

Lol i live in England....Everything so expensive here because of taxes.

I think the cheapest ive seen a Gig of ram here in stores was about £90:eek:

Why is ram so expensive?

Cuz you live in the UK...:P

I could get it to you for 60-70GBP shipped...:)

Yeah uk prices just suck:D

Thanks for the offer about shipping it me but i think my cousin goes to one of those computer fairs and parts are alot cheaper there so i might ask him if i can go along with him and have a look there.
