Memory card reader keeps disconnecting

I have a Vantec memory card reader in my PC. It's connected to my only USB 2.0 header. Quite often the memory card reader stops working and will only read cards again after I reboot the PC -- however the USB port in the reader works fine.

Did you check to make sure the connector is secured to the usb header? May be a bad reader.
