Memory compatability for 790i Ultra SLI

I know that the point of the 790i mobo is the DDR3 memory support, but will they also run DDR2 memory? I'm just thinking it would be great if I could run DDR2 right now, and then upgrade to DDR3 when I need it or it is less expensive.

That board will only run DDR3. I think someone makes a board that will run both , some call it a hybrid and I hear it's not very good.

I got the information straight from Evga's website and their specs on the board. It will only use DDR3 memory. Have a look for yourself.

Yeah, I also went to the website before I started this thread. I just wasn't sure if because it supported DDR3, it could run DDR2 as well. Sort of like with the 45nm processors. If they can run 45's they can also run the previous chipsets. Thought it might have been the same thing for ram. Guess I'm going with 4 gigs of 1066 DDR3 then.
