Memory dumps?

Hello everyone. Have a question for you. My son bought an Acer computer. 1 gig of RAM, running windows Vista. At the time we didn't realize that Vista needed at least 2 gig to run efficiently, so his computer ran slow. Well we bought him 2 - 2 gig sticks and replaced the 2 - 512 meg sticks, but now he is getting the dreaded blue screen. At first it was just on occasions, but now it is constant. Any ideas???

I would send the RAM back and get replacement modules that work. Most RAM has a manufacturer warranty on it. How old is the new memory you bought?

yeah, it sounds like you have some bad RAM in there. if you want to verify it, you can download and burn an application called Memtest. you boot off of the CD, and it will test the RAM

Thanks guys. The memory is probably 4 months old. I'll look into sending it back (bought from Tiger Direct). Will definately try the memtest thing to be sure. Thanks again.
