Memory options...

What board are you going to installing the memory selected onto? Mushkin was an old favorite for Asus boards.

One is DDR and the other is DDR2, they don't work in the same memory slots.

As for which is better, my vote goes for the DDR2 800 because of it's higher speeds and a bit higher latency. Not to mention it's much cheaper.

my bad, this was an awful question, we didn't notice that it was only ddr...ok so would it be worth getting this memory :

Or this:

Honestly don't waste your money. The RAM you posted before is just as good.

If you look closely at the specs, you will see that they bumped up the RAM voltage from 1.8v to 2.25v. You can easily do this yourself from within the BIOS, so don't spend twice the money for DDR2 800 with slightly lower timings.

So do you think 2gbs of the above memory would out perform 4gbs of ddr2 800 memory with a cas latency of 5-5-5-5-12 and a voltage of 1.8?

Yes I would think so. It's not very often that someone uses more than 2GB of RAM now so better timings it better than more capacity as the extra space would mostly unused.

There are several rushing out to get Vista 64bit just to see 4gb fully recognised while 2gb is quite adequate even on gaming machines. All these games will run with only 512mb of ram installed or game developers would be out of work fast since most prebuilt systems still see 512 with some now finally seeing 1gb or 2gb as an option.

I paid a little more for 2gb of Kingston Hyper X memory seeing CAS 4 4-4-4-14. But it has worked out quite well on the Asus M2N-E board here performance wise. The Mushkin memory would be thought if you are on a tight budget being a good brand there.
