Memory problems... again

a while ago i had some corsair ram go bad on me... i then bought 2 x 512mb sticks of Geil value ram rated at 400MHz @2.5 CL

recently i have been getting a lot of memory errors and it has got to the point where i had to drop the speed down 333MHz just to keep my system working without errors.

i have not performed any overclocking or changed any other settings from their default values.
My system worked fine with these settings for just over a month, but now things have started to go wrong, the problem isn't heat related and i cant figure out what could cause this again. I haven't been able to swap the ram to check for bad sticks cos i have a broken hand.... any ideas would be most helpful :)

Well...

Well given that this is the second time that this has happened, I would question the motherboard. Have you tested these memory sticks in a different motherboard? If they should prove fine, then it's a problem of the mobo. If they are damaged, I would also question the mobo because RAM rarely goes bad just like this. One thing could be some sort of interference which could be causing it. Try to think of a connection between what you changed, added, altered when this started happening.

last time this happened my motherboard died and i had to get a new board and processor... i hope that not the case this time.
when i can i plan to try my system with a brand new stick of corsair xms

Hmmm....

Could be a faulty PSU then. If it resulted in the death of the mobo previously, then there must have been something wrong not with the RAM itself but rather something to do with the mobo being damaged or too much (or too little for stable operation) juice coming in over extended periods of time.

i was thinking of getting a new psu... i have a crappy psu lying around that came with a spare case i have.... i might try that and see what happens
