I have an old Packard Bell Multimedia PC. I got 64mb of ram to put in it, and the computer would only read 16 mb of it. I updated the BIOS, and now the memory wont read. Help.

Intel Pentium 166mhz Processor with MMX
Packard Bell v1.24 bios (just upgraded)
Packard Bell-810 Motherboard
24mb ram (16 mb piece and 8 mb piece both are Hyundai)
2mb video card
Windows 98 SE (just upgraded from 95)
3.2GB Hard Drive
Panasonic CD-ROM Drive
Omega Zip Drive
3 1/2 Floppy Drive

And no im not using double sided memory. I have a 64mb Dell piece and a 64mb Toshiba piece. My uncle gave them to me and said they should work, because he had used them in a good number of computers.

A few older computers that I have-Pentium I, the old intel chips would only read up to a 32mb memory stick, the only socket 7 intel chip that would read above a 32mb memory stick was a 430HX

The sticker that was on a system said that it could be upgraded to 128mb.

True, but most older socket 7 boards have 4 simms ram slots-4X32=128, if you try 64mb sticks it will show up as 16 or 32mbs, like I say, I think the only Intel chipset that will read a stick bigger than 32 on a socket 7 was the 430HX
