Memory question, (Please help!)

I have a laptop that i have had to buy a new hard drive for now, i didnt get a chance to save any files and the hard drive is fried, i already took it to a computer store, is there any way of restoring my files onto the new hard drive??? does my rom or ram store any info?? ill keep my fingers crossed.

if the drive is dead, there are places you can send off your drive to have it recovered, but it's like $1000... No bull, it's crazy amounts.

RAM = Short term storage. Everything's gone when it's shut down
ROM = READ ONLY memory
Harddrive = Long Term storage
