I have a question.....I have the dfi lanparty motherboard with an amd 64 2800 on it. It says it hold 3 gb of ddr 400.....But I have seen that some people use like pc 3500 and so on.....would there be any benefit in doing this and what would it be if it doesn't recognize it. Maybe it will I don't know I just know alot of people do this and I don't have any knowledge about it.

putting faster RAM in then it can "take" gives you overhead for OCing, so that RAM stress wont limit how high you can clock stuff

DDR400 and PC3500 are different things. For example you could have a slot of DDR400 PC3500 RAM.
The amount of RAM is generally what you're looking for (512MB, 1GB etc.) so a mobo that could handle 3GB RAM could take 3 lots of 1GB of DDR400 PC3500 RAM (depending on the spec of the mobo, but this is just an example).

No Idea

when i was looking at it its says 3 dimm of 400....does that mean it wont or does that mean that is all that it will recognize.....the motherboard if a dfi lanparty with the 754 slot for a amd 64bit 2800...

Boy you could really get into some money buying that expensive stuff for oc'ing couldn't you!
Uh... yea.

For example you could have a slot of DDR400 PC3500 RAM
You can? (i.e., PC3500 is DDR466)

could take 3 lots of 1GB of DDR400 PC3500 RAM (depending on the spec of the mobo, but this is just an example).
Except if you max out the slots they drop down to PC2700 I think

the thing I am wondering is if it is worth it to go with like pc5400 or something like that
Well PC5400 doesnt exist ... if you mean PC25400 you wont be able to use it as it is a 240pin memory architecture rather than a 184pin type :) The highest you can take is PC4200 (note that this is not the same as PC24200)
