Memory upgrade question.

I am looking to upgrade my memory and was wondering what is better 1gig or 2x512? I have a 512 that came with my pc now so if I got another one does it matter if its the by the same manufacture for example can you have one stick made be kingston and the other made by crucial?

manufacturer does not matter
and, i don't think there's really any difference other then price. it'd be cheaper to just get another 512
plus, personally, i think it'd be better to go with 2 512's versus 1 1gig.
if one of the 512's messes up, you can always run on the other one and won't have to pay as much to get another one
but, if the 1 gig messes up, you're screwed, and you have to pay a bit more to replace it

One thing to look at also is if your motherboard will support a 1GB RAM Chip. Some will not.
