Memory upgrade

I just got one of those $500 dollar value computers from HP, but it only comes with 256 Mb of ram (severly slowing down my 2.6 GH computer).

I was wondering, how big of a mem stick should i put in for this average multimedia computer that i use for some games.

(ex. 256mb upgrade, 524mb upgrade, 1 gig. ...)

I really have no idea what the max upgrade is for the computer without knowing what board it is. I would say you are safe with a 512 upgrade but make sure they are the same type. Ex. 512mb PC2700 (DDR333)

You might want to do a bit of reading as some of the cheaper/older boards have slot limitations ... i.e., there is a limit to the biggest stick you can put into a DIMM slot
