Memory upgrade

I'll get right to the question:

I just bought a value PC, but it needs more memory. It came with 256 of memory. I don't want to have to get rid of that memory if i don't have to. Is 730 (or something like that) enough to run the reletively new games good, or do i have to scratch that and get 1 gig.

The answer to your question depends on the mobo you've got and specifically (a) the limitations of the slot (b) the number of slots and (c) the limitation of the mobo. Since you're running PC3200 memory you should be fine for those considerations but you'll probably want to make use of Dual Channel memory if possible. In that case 2x256 would be a better router than 3x256. If you want to go all the way (and you've got an Intel/Athlon64 board) then 4x256 is an option as well.
