Memory Upgrades for E-Machines ET1850 desktop

Hello chaps,

This is my first post on here, so hopefully I'll get to meet some new helpful people. I've been building my own PC's since I was about 12, but haven't done too much over recent years as I've not had time to play with my home PC so much. I have upgraded that recently, but I'll post the details later elsewhere.

Anyway, the purpose of this thread:

I bought an E-machines ET 1850 desktop to use as a works PC a couple of years back. It runs Windows 7 home premium. It's been struggling running the OS and programmes such as Nitro PDF. I decided to add a seperate graphics card and upgrade the memory to help it out.
The memory checkers showed me which is compatible http://www.mrmemory.co.uk/memory-ram-upgrades/model/eMachines~Desktop+/+Tower~ET1850

So I ordered two modules of this from Eclipse computing:

Removed the old memory and clipped in the new, fired it up and BEEEEEEEP! just one long continuous beep.

I've tried each module seperately, but no joy. Given this is guranteed to be compatible I don't get what's going wrong.
What do you think? is the memory I've been sent duff? or is the E-machines ET 1850 just a big pile of crud?
It's got bios P01-B3 which is the latest version I think, whether that makes a difference or not I don't know.
Are there some settings I need to alter in the bios before installing or shall I just see if the retailer will return the memory as faulty?

You ordered ECC RAM, which is only used in workstations and servers. You need to send it back and order non-ECC RAM.

Ah, oh bum! Didn't even notice that. I thought it would work anyway, just be slightly slower. I guess not.
Best send it back then, sadly it doesn't look like they stock non ecc of that module and I want to ensure it's compatible as the ET-1850 seems pretty fussy.
Thanks for the quick reply.

Nope. If the system doesn't support it, then it won't work; period. Computers are much more acceptable of different speed ratings though, but not when it comes to being ECC or non-ECC.

If you want to use that store to get your memory then just get these.

They don't have much in the 1333 speed. Most are 1600mhz and higher.

I found that site really hard to navigate. That's why I didn't suggest anything. Newegg needs to open up in the UK.
