Memtest failed me!

Ran memtest on one of my pc's overnight and it reported back no fault on memory sticks. However after much investigation, it turned out that the sticks are actually faulty. Ifound this out by swapping memory sticks between systems and between the two systems, the same error messages popped up.

And how was that determined? And all you did was make a statement with nothing to back it up. There are a few possibilities why memtest didn't give you errors.

Also, memtest is an excellent program, but not perfect. It can sometimes pass errors, which is why you should still run other benches to make sure. Prime95 can often show up errors that memtest missed, if indeed it did miss any

Ok I can substantiate my statement.

My system started crashing unexpectedly and and throwing up errors of all sorts. Mainly program errors. After some investigation, I looked towards the hdd and tested it also. The hdd passed the tests.
One of the errors I got in the error log was that ntfs file system was corrupt and I noticed that every time I started the system, chkdsk would run. Initially I thought the corrupt data was causing the problem so I formatted the hdd. After doing so, the exact same thing as above happened. At this point I put a brand new hdd in the system which I subsequently formatted etc. After doing so, the same thing happened again, as above. So I now swapped out memory from another system and reformatted the hdd and the problems I was having completely disappeared. However, I ran the defective memory in another system and the same thing happened again.
This is how I conclude the memory was defective and memtest did not pick it up.
This system's I refer to are identical spec

Also is there a list of any sort that lists bench test programs?

Yes your RAM chips are bad.So there is no point to run any tests anymore...
Just replace those RAM chips with the new ones and that's it.They are really cheap lol.

And they probably have a lifetime warranty, as nearly all memory modules do, which claiming on is cheaper than buying a full new set ;)

I would still not rule out other things. I had the exact same issue as you did, which was solved with a new motherboard.

Memtest flagged nothing, Samsung HDD utility came up clean, after numerous fomats and reinstalls the problem kept coming back, swapping of video cards, removal of all but the essential peripherals (mouse + keyboard), you name it, I did it, everything was fine. I put my PSU in another system to make sure that wasn't defective, and it ran without a single problem. Went and claimed on my mobo warranty, got a new board, all of the problems went away.

You can RMA the memory, however chances are the manufacturer will say, as Corsair did to me when I contacted them asking for their opinion (which confirmed what I thought):

If Memtest showed no errors but you were still recieveing problems, it probably isn't an issue with your memory, but send it in anyway if you want and we will have a look for you
