Memtest help please

I want to run memtest i downloaded it on my pc. i have windows xp. can someone walk me through?

Run the install after you put a blank floppy in the drive. It will create a bootable floppy. Reboot your computer with the floppy in the drive and it will run Memtest automatically.

If you downloaded the CD .ISO version you will have to use a program like Nero to burn it to a CD and then boot off the CD.

After you boot the rest of it is self-explanatory.

Do you have a cd-r/rw drive and cd writing software. In order to see a good burn of memtest to a cd-r the burning program must be able to create bootable cds from iso images. If you have a cd writer without a good program for this you can download the free version of BurnOn at http://www.burnworld.com/burnoncddvd/

Both sites for memtest now have iso disk images available for download since more and more newer prebuilt systems lack a 3 1/2" floppy drive. Once you have prepared a bootable disk with memtest on it and boot the system with it you will need to let memtest run for several hours to repeat the nine essential stress tests performed in a continuing loop.

You can end the tests at any time. The system will restart upon either completing all of the nine tests if not set to loop or when you choose to end them by pressing the escape. One thing to note is that errors found with memtest may not be faults found with the memory itself. Bios, cpu, or other problems with the board can result in seeing memory errors being reported.
