Messed my Old COmputer Up

Ok so i bought a nice new computer because my hd went in my old one nad it was time for an upgrade. So i decided i would strip down my old computer and put it all back together. To get experience for my next build.
So i think the problem came from my cpu. I took it out and when i put it back in i bent some contacts..... so i straightened them all out and i am convinced i put it in properly. Now the problem, when i boot up my computer it wont send a signal to the monitor. I tried taking out my video card and hooking straight to the onboard but i get the same flashing light from the monitor. Any ideas whats wrong? should i buy a cheap cpu and try it again?

That's up to you - how much can you get one for and is it worth it to you?

I probably would - I mean, if you'll get any use out of the machine. Remember to apply thermal paste between the top of the processor and the heatsink, or you'll fry another one. I hear Artic Silver is what all of the happenin' kids are using these days

I don't like throwing my hardware away. I usually sell my old or dead stuff cheap on Craigslist so that someone else can get some use out of it.

I've also been known to turn my old machines into file/web servers running Linux so that I can d/l my important crap from anywhere in the world and run silly webpages (see signature). I just set the box up in the corner or a closet somewhere with nothing hooked into it but an ethernet cable and a power cord once it's configured. I can just access it via the network or SSH.

Ok so i took my processor out again and i figured out that i have the
AMD Athlon 64 3500 which sounds like they are all socket 939. I can have one shipped to me for $20. So i am purchasing this and i will let you know how it goes when i receive it in about 2 weeks.
