Metro 2033 any good?

I'm considering picking up the game. most of the reviews i read just bash it because it isn't on consoles(?) or because it was too intensive.

Can anyone who has played the game say whether it is worth getting? I know it has no multiplayer.

And, how would my rig (see below) handle the game? Remembering my maximum resolution is 1280x1024.

I've almost cleared the game. It's vary dark and thrilling.. I think your rig will be able to handle it if you lower some settings.

I'm able to play on high with 2xMSAA, 16xAF, 1920x1080 (but i must turn off HBAO) and i have advanced Physx on! im around 55-60 fps average. Once i turn HBAO on or Very high i fall down to 25-30 fps..

Edit: Your GPU is good, but your cpu will be the bottleneck'..

personally i didn't like it very much. i don't know, the aliens didn't seem all that scary and the story was kind of stupid i thought. i might give it another try later on this week but so far i don't like it very much.

Turn down the gamma, use headphones on max volume, sit in the dark at night alone. (Turn off the lights) :o
