Micro ATX vs. ATX

What's the difference between a Micro ATX board and just a standard ATX board? Are all parts that are compatible with a stardard ATX mobo compatible with Micro ATX and vise-versa?

EDIT: Would a Micro ATX mobo fit into an ATX mid tower case?
