So, i dont know how many people already know about it, but Nvidia has dropped their amazing Ion northbridge/onboard graphics processors on us a while back. it uses intel atom processors, supports overclocking, and has every little thing i could ever ask a desktop to have.
all of this is possible on a mini-itx motherboard just a few inches wide and long, and taking under 30 watts.
here is the best model i could find: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813500027
so for about $200 shipped i could save energy, have a HTPC, mby a home server, whatever!
needless to say, im very excited. a few features:
Onboard WiFi
No cables or power supplies (except small ones for peripheals)
Overclockable to 2.1ghz intel atom n330, 1mb cache
3 SATA ports, RAID 0, 1, 0+1 support
DDR2 800mhz up to 4gb
Completely silent
Onboard HDMI, SPDIF, eSATA, DVI, VGA
I plan on setting this up by nailing it to my wall, and setting the dvd drive and hard drive right next to my monitor. since there are almost no power cords, ill simple zip strip the cords coming from the back to make it look clean. this will be my everyday desktop replacement.
what do you think?
