Microsoft Excel Question

Hi guys,

I have a question regarding Microsoft Excel 2002(Microsoft Office XP).

I need it to give me the sum of a lot of numbers such as 1,2,3.25,2.5 etc. however it only does the sum for the numbers without decimals.

Is there anyway to make it give me the sum of all the numbers and not only the numbers without decimals?

Also when I was trying this, I did select all the numbers in my column however only the numbers without decimals were calculated.

Thanks

Were the numbers with a decimal actually text?

If so you could turn them into numbers then sum them

if =Sum(A1:A5) doesnt work try =sum(A1*1,A2*1,A3*1,A4*1,A5*1)

multiplying by 1 turns the text back into a number.

I know this is an old post, but it was un-answered.

Thanks it worked. By any chance would you know how to put names in Excel in alphabetical order?

Thanks again

You highlight the cells you want to alphabetize, they you can go to the Data menu and select Sort.
