Microsoft Movie Maker 2.6 question

Hi folks... I made a DVD on Movie Maker 2.6 (Vista 32) but it will not play on my Xbox 360. I also want it to play on a regular DVD player. Here's what I did. I converted VOB files to MPG and was able to make and burn the movie to a DVD-R just fine but now it does not work on anything but my PC. It is currently in WMV format. Is this a format problem and if it is, can I convert the WMV file? There must be a way to play a burned DVD on a home theater system. What do I do??? Any help is appreciated.

Wait, is it in WMV or MPEG-4 format? WMV format won't play on most DVD players, you have to export/convert the file in Movie Maker to another format, probably MPEG-4 is your best bet.

When I check the properties of the video, this is what I get: Windows Media Audio/Video file (.wmv). Is converting the file as easy as changing thefile name to .mpg4?

heres some good software to make some movies and then convert them for your xbox 360! use Sony Vegas 8 pro.
its great.
